Shenandoah Valley Vineyard
Amador County

Excellent Location for Winery & Tasting Room
Two Vineyard Properties

Your vineyard is waiting … in California's Shenandoah Valley!

The two properties listed on this site are planted in Zinfandel and are located in Amador County, home to some of the state's finest Zinfandel producing vineyards.

"Amador County Wine is the land where Zinfandel reigns supreme and the vineyards are steeped in 150 years of winemaking tradition. It is here where European winemaking found a home in the late 19th century. Part of what has come to be known as the "Mother Lode", Amador County was settled by immigrants, mostly of Mediterranean decent, who sought a golden future and brought their viticultural traditions to the iron rich soils of the area. After the prosperous wine industry was shut down by Prohibition early in the 20th century, the county remained dormant until the 60's when a young Sutter Home winemaker rediscovered the spicy, bold Zinfandel grape which was abundant in the area and returned the name Amador to a label again. The success of this wine, as well as the ripe Barbera & Sangiovese that would follow, has made the region nationally recognized. Today this county is divided into two appellations, Shenandoah Valley and Fiddletown, but Amador and Zinfandel remain synonymous in the hearts of California wine lovers." (Description from Appellation America)

I bring a background of vineyard development as well as winery brand management expertise. I am now setting my sight on helping others find the rich viticultural, as well as scenic splendor, of the Sierra Foothills. Areas of specialty are El Dorado and Amador counties, including the Shenandoah Valley, which comprise some of the best Rhone and Zinfandel producers in California.

Recent press in the San Francisco Chronicle bears out two facts:  one, El Dorado and Amador counties are still approachable for those endeavoring to get into the wine business, and second, that wines made from these grapes bear the unmistakable mineral characteristics of the best that the Rhone region has to offer. Why? We're not sure but one thing about these counties stands out and that is our soils. Our soils are composed mainly of decomposed granite and are therefore spare.  Such soil types control crop yield and therefore enhance quality.

With my own vineyard project I have been able to achieve both the quality and financial goals I had set forth. I've experienced the process of developing a property as well as marketing the grapes. I have a good depth of knowledge concerning what it takes to be successful in wine business.

Prior to developing a passion for wine I was a successful small business founder. My business was consumer software and the company I founded sold millions of units of small business and home office software. These products continue to be sold through popular small business retailers such as Staples and OfficeMax.
